Women's Tennis to Host Butler at Mercy Healthplex Fairfield

Feb. 13, 2008

CINCINNATI - The Xavier women's tennis team will play host to Butler Wednesday, Feb. 13, at Mercy Healthplex Fairfield to open the home portion of its 2008 spring schedule. First serve is set for 1 p.m. This will be the first dual match the Musketeers have had at home this season after opening the year with an eight-match road stint.

XU (6-2) is coming off a win and a loss over the past weekend. On Saturday, the Musketeers fell, 6-1, to the Missouri Tigers in Columbia as sophomore Jill Ducro extended her singles unbeaten streak to 7-0. She defeated Sofia Ayala, 6-2, 6-1 for Xavier's lone point of the match. The following day, XU downed Chicago State in a neutral site match on Missouri's courts.

Butler (0-5) has yet to garner a win on the young season. The Bulldogs' match versus Xavier on Wednesday is the first of three matches for BU in a four-day span. The last time out, Butler fell, 5-2, to Illinois State. Becky Jenkins and Tiffany McLoughlin notched the Bulldogs' two points in the match with wins at No. 4 and No. 6 singles, respectively.
