Yale standouts Tyler Casertano (Millbrook, N.Y.) and Gregory DuBoff (McLean, Va.) have been invited to play in the 67th annual United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) North-South All-Star Game. The 4 p.m. game on May 23 is hosted by the Boston Cannons of Major League Lacrosse (MLL) at Harvard Stadium.
The Cannons will take on Rochester at 7 as the final part of a lacrosse tripleheader. The Division III all-stars compete in a 2 p.m. game.
Casertano, ranked 36th in Division I with 2.93 points per game and 25th with 1.50 assists, was named first-team All-New England and second-team All-Ivy this spring. The Yale attackman led the Blue with 41 points and 21 assists.
DuBoff, a midfielder, was third in the nation with 6.14 ground balls per game and eighth with a .588 faceoff percentage. He was named first-team All-New England and honorable mention All-Ivy.
The two Bulldogs will compete with Division I and II all-stars in the North-South USILA event.
"We are thrilled to be hosting the North-South games at Harvard Stadium this year," said Bob Scalise, Nichols Family Director of Athletics at Harvard University. "I am also pleased to see the Cannons and Major League Lacrosse working with the college coaches to promote the sport of lacrosse and provide the 2008 Senior All-Stars a compelling stage on which to showcase their skills."
The three events kick off the NCAA Championship weekend at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough. Holding the senior all-star games on a MLL stage allows some of the nation's most talented players the chance to showcase their skills in preparation for the 2008 MLL Collegiate Draft.
"We are excited that the seniors selected to play in the North/South Games will have a prestigious setting in which to finish their college careers," said USILA President and Notre Dame Head Men's Lacrosse Coach Kevin Corrigan. "And with the MLL draft the following Wednesday, it will give the kids one last chance to impress the pro coaches and general managers."
Tickets are available through the Cannons ticket office at (888) 847-9700. Tickets for the Cannons-Rochester game are good for the two all-star games as well.
